Perpetual Childhood opened its doors in February, 1998, and has gained customers from its native Ellwood City, from surrounding cities and towns (New Castle, Beaver Falls, Chippewa, Beaver, Cranberry, etc.), and from communities in nearby Ohio and West Virginia.
Famous for its bonnets and unique variety of clothing, its appeal to children is in the "playroom" (repeat visit children make a bee-line to it), which frees "mommy" to do more relaxed shopping. In fact, Jerri (the owner) tells of a mystified grandfather who was pulled into the shop by his granddaughter, saying that he didn't know why she insisted on coming in here. (We knew!) She played for a half-hour and was then happily ready to leave.
Founded by Jerri upon leaving "Corporate America", it was the fulfillment of her dream to have her own childrens clothing shop. It soon became a favored customer source for those "special" clothing and gift items. So much so that one grandmother declared she was going to keep this shop a secret from the "other grandmother" - not wanting her to know where she got such nice things. (But grandma, we don't want to be a secret!!)
And now the shop has taken the leap into cyberspace - a rather large neighborhood - where it is hard to remain a "best-kept secret" - we hope!!
